The 7T27-7120 replaced its 7A28 predecessor in the early 1990s and was the second watch commissioned by the MOD to accompany RAF pilots during their flying hours. This particular example is an early one, September 1992 to be exact and although it looks like an 'issued' piece with the P dial (which stands for Promethium, a type of luminescent compound), the case back has no MOD issue numbers. A number of theories surround why this might be the case- maybe the MOD ordered a certain amount of watches and Seiko made too many and sold the overstock to civilians through their dealer network? Either way it seems that these non issued, civilian variants are far less available than their RAF counterparts in the modern market.
